my manos scarf.
So, I’m going to go on the assumption that certain family members that I know and love will not be reading my blog. Especially since I’ve hardly told anyone about it yet. But I wanted to put this out into cyberspace, because I’m in love… with this:
This is my first (and certainly not my last) ball of Manos Del Uruguay yarn. I simply adore this! Just look at these lovely colors…
I knita few dozen (okay, maybe just half a dozen) different patterns with this yarn before I settled on this rib (K2, P2). I personally love “My So Called Scarf” but that’s more my style, so I’ll save it for me. And I tried the “Mistake Rib” but with this yarn, I thought it looked too messy. It’s already a messy sort of yarn and I’m knitting for a not so messy person.
I figured I would be bored with a “neat” but plain stockinette or a garter stitch scarf. I even attempted something as fabulous as the Jaywalker pattern but this really wasn’t the right sort of yarn to show off a chevron (yet another future scarf for me!). Nothing looked “right” in my mind, until I tried this. And now I’m in love!
So, since I searched the internet for about an hour looking for blogs that mentioned Manos del Uruguay (homemade) patterns, I thought I’d add this post for the next person looking for a good idea. Try a rib! I love mine. Especially since I recently taught myself to knit Continentally!
Here’s the details:
- CO 20 st. (or any multiple of 4).
- K2, P2 till you run out of yarn.
- Wrap around a loved one (or yourself) and enjoy!
Finished Size: 52″ long x 3″ wide.

Hi Nicole! I found your blog through Sugarplum Paperie.
I hadn’t heard of Manos yarn until I read this, and now I am dying to get some! Did you order online?
I am afraid the colors will be different from the pictures on the Web sites. What color did you use for this scarf?
Also, how many skeins did you use?
Thanks!
