We drove over to Orlando early on Sunday morning. It was a bit of a cloudy and cool day, but luckily we were prepared for it. We were staying at one of the Buena Vista resorts, so we stopped by the hotel and caught the bus to the Magic Kingdom:
Here’s a snapshot of the castle that gives you a pretty good impression of how gray it was that day:
And here’s a little Photoshop Magic to alter our own reality, creating what we wish the day had been like:
Ah, sunny skies! But don’t worry–the sun did come out at about 3:00. We had a good time regardless of the weather! See?:
Joshua was thrilled to have his own Mickey balloon:
Our first stop–a quick run through the park to get to Mickey’s Toontown so that we could meet Donald:
Pluto:
And Goofy:
How did Joshua like meeting Donald, Pluto and Goofy? Well…
He slept through the whole thing (it was nap time, you see). He also missed out on It’s a Small World as well:
In fact, the whole day was a lot like this, unless we were holding him:
But he did like meeting Mickey and Minnie! The only time he asked to be put down all day!:
Katie, meanwhile, was having a very good time! She was an extremely brave little girl. She went on Splash Mountain with Mommy and her Aunt Nicole! After that experience, going on Goofy’s Barnstormer was no problem:
And after that, it was time to meet some very special friends. These smiles and faces here are exactly why we came when she was five. Here is Katie with Cinderella:
Belle (her favorite princess):
And Princess Aurora:
Sleeping Beauty was a real gem! She talked to Katie about her Disney Princess shirt, pointing out Prince Phillip’s horse, Samson and she was amazed at Princess Katie’s brave trip down Splash Mountain! To reward such acts of bravery, she gave Katie a kiss and thanked her for coming to visit. You can see the kiss here, along with a bit of dazed expression on Katie’s face:
What a lovely afternoon! One last look at the Castle as we left the park:
And we all lived happily ever after… The End.

Oh my, Katie is just BEAMING! I can see how that made it all worth it. Too bad about Joshua not enjoying himself! I’m sure it was all a little overwhelming for the poor little buddy. Maybe you can go again when he is 5!

Oh, that’s so sweet! Wow, the castle sure was pretty at night. What does one have to do to be a Disney princess for a living? 🙂

Yeah, Katie looked really happy in all the pics! Poor Joshua, that he missed out here & there. You guys definitely had so much fun!

Hi Nicole! Looks like you had a great trip! I’m glad I found you. I’d been looking for your craft blog and found you here. Love the look of your blog, very fresh! Hope you’ve settled into your new home.

aaaw how precious. I have been wondering all about your trip and now I have found it in your hiding spot.
I have tears in my eyes seeing Katie with her princesses. How awesome is that! Such a true fantasy for a little girl.

Oh man I had to come back and have another look. God I am such a sook, bawling again! I didn’t see the ‘kiss’ last time. I really have to stop obsessing over Disney Princesses 🙁

Sunny days outside are overrated. Think how hot the Florida sun gets and the sunburns you avoided. Overcast but not raining is the best for a day at a park with lots of asphalt and concrete. It sure looks like fun!
