birthdays and baby girls.

Wednesday marked two special occasions—one of my babies turned two weeks old and another one turned three years old:

Ah, homemade birthday cake! There’s nothing like it. Isn’t this just a work of art?!

Joshua would have liked to have a “Monkey George” cake (thanks to an issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine where he saw a Curious George cake that a talented mom made for her son) but obviously, as you can see, we just don’t have those sorts of talents… ha! Nor could we find a shop that still carried Curious George cakes or decorations! So, we did the next best thing. We made him an official Cake Wrecks cake! Only a truly geeky family would go to such lengths… (hee hee!)

At least it was delicious. Confetti cake with Lemon icing. Yum! The birthday boy approved:

Here’s a cute family photo that we took the day after Penny was born:

Ignore Joshua… he was whining to Grandmom about his water cup for some reason. Everyone else in the photo looks happy, though. LOL! I can’t believe there are so many of us now…

So, Penny sleeps a lot. Can you tell? So far every picture of her on the web has been like this:

Here is a rare snapshot of her when she was awake:

Precious little snook-ems. The kids love her! They kind wish she’d be awake more, too:

(Actually, I think she was awake in this picture. The look on Katie’s face though was too much. I could resist a good joke.)

And last but not least… and anonymous present came for Penny:

Aren’t these adorable?! But the one bad thing about Etsy—the shop owners don’t always think to provide a note to say who the gift is from! So, anyone want to claim these? LOL! They are super-sweet. I just love them!

Now… to work on writing up that birth story!
