penny: one to two months.

Our sweet little Penny is now two months old—and my goodness, has she grown.

Penny Notes:

  • When Penny was six weeks, she weighed in at 12 lbs. She’s certainly taking after her brother, Joshua, who was about the same weight at the same time. I’ve been flipping through Katie’s baby book saying “Well, she’s outgrown that outfit… and that one… and that one, too.” There’s a picture of Katie at three months wearing an outfit that Penny outgrew at 6 weeks! She’s a chubby little monkey, that one. She has fat rolls on her fat rolls. Certainly takes a bit of work with the washcloth in the bathtub to make sure she’s good and clean!
  • Penny has finally woken up this month. It’s so wonderful to have her awake to spend some time with us during the day. She’ll come downstairs with us and sit in her little swing and just checkout the kitchen. Katie looooooves to entertain Penny, by talking to her or singing her a little song. It’s so precious! Katie is really just as enamored with Penny as we are. So cute.

Here’s a snapshot of the girls together when Penny was six weeks old (she has grown so much in the last three weeks that she’s just about outgrown this little swing!):

  • Penny has also started to smile a lot this month. It’s adorable. She’ll do this cute little thing where her smile gets bigger and bigger until she doesn’t know what to do, so she turns her head to the side (almost like her smile got “heavy”). Just precious!

Travis caught her smiling here:

She looks so much like Katie in picture, it’s amazing! They are little twins, separated by six years!

  • Penny still has an extremely sweet and cuddly disposition. And you can tell already that she’s happiest when she’s around other people… which is good, seeing that she’s the third child and going to be around other people, like it or not. LOL! She’s also very observant and she likes to watch what everyone is doing around the house.
  • She’s still sleeping well at night, waking up at 11/12 and again at 3:00 a.m. It’s not too bad and I’m feeling like I’m back to normal now. At least, I’m not as much of a zombie.
  • Penny will also lay down for a nap without fussing one bit. I’ve never had a baby that didn’t cry for a little bit before falling asleep. But Penny rarely does that. And if she does cry, it only lasts 3-5 minutes at the most. She’s such an easy going baby! So delightful.

Hopefully, I’ll get ahead of the game now and be able to post next month’s Penny Notes on time. I want to be able to write these things down when they happen and not try to reconstruct the past so much. Ha!

Until next time…
