big changes, new beginnings.

I have shared some form of this letter about four times now. I figured that another copy of it belonged here on my blog.

For three wonderful years, I had ran the show at The Digichick. But earlier this year, I knew that the time had come for me to pass along the reins to someone else…

When first I took over TDC, I had two kids–just 5 and 2. School didn’t take more than an hour a day.

But now I have two students (plus two toddlers to entertain!) and school takes up at least 5 hours a day!

Then there are all those other things we hate to do—things like cooking and cleaning—that I was happy to ignore. LOL! On a good day here at home, I would have maybe two hours left over for designing AND taking care of the Digichick. That’s just not enough for either of those things. On a good day for my business, my kids would do their math on their own and then beg me to play video games for the rest of the day… and dinner would come from Wendy’s… and my husband would have no clean socks or ironed shirts for work the next day. LOL! I’ve been falling off the horse on one side or the other on any given day for far too long.

By stepping back from running TDC and freeing up my time for taking care of my family and designing alone, I hope to restore some peace to my life. A new kit can wait a week. Customer service can’t. I need that kind of flexibility in my life right now.

Designing has always been my first love and I am excited to get back to focusing on it full time once again. I took over the shop, not because it was my goal to someday be a store owner—quite the opposite! I’ve never really felt comfortable being “The Boss.” LOL! But I thought that I could do a good job of it and I have truly enjoyed my time there. I’m just at the place now where I am fully aware that I really can’t do it all. Honestly, I’ve known this for more than a year… I’ve just been hanging in there, smiling and still trying to make it all work. But then in January I had a big, tearful heart-to-heart with my mom and I finally came to a real breaking point a few weeks thereafter. I knew it really was time to take this step.

The Digichick has had a long history of passing the torch on from one girl to the next. When thinking about who might be the best candidate to fill my shoes, one person came to mind—someone who loves TDC and has been here longer than I have! I am happy to announce that Sinead Turner has taken over the reins and is currently doing an awesome job handling the day to day affairs of the site.

And as for Sugarplum Paperie—I didn’t know what I was going to do at first. So, I took a leap of faith and gave up the reins of TDC before I had found a new home for my designs.

I took another leap of faith and applied to a shop that I have always dreamed of being a part of… and on March 31st I was absolutely delighted to open my new store at the Sweet Shoppe!

Also, I am so excited to announce that I was so blessed to work along side Teresa Collins in creating her new line, Sweet Afternoon! From the moment I discovered digital scrapbooking I dreamed of the day I would be able to work with someone in the paper industry. And that day has arrived! I’m so excited to see this beautiful new line in print. And so very thankful to have had an opportunity to collaborate with someone as talented as Teresa is.

So, that’s what’s been going on with me—and why I’ve been so quiet! I’ve been homeschooling, designing, training, moving shops… oh, my! It makes my head spin to think of it.

Here’s to a happy new beginning!

A heartfelt congratulations to you Nicole!!!

I am in the elder crowd (well, almost!) and have marveled throughout my years in the
digiscrapping industry as to how you young mothers can find time to create such amazing
products with young babes in tow!

I raised and homeschooled all six of my children back in the day and was lucky to see
my pillow for 3-4 hours with all we were involved in. While I was not a digiscrapper then,
I was a crafter and did sell at a local shop and had employed the help of my eldest
daughter 😉 We both burned the midnight oil on numerous occasions trying to get ‘er done!

I feel your heart and the emotion in coming to the realization that it was, indeed, time
to let go of TDC and to follow your passion – designing! I commend you for staying the course
    as long as you have.

Wishing you the very best always and welcome to the sweet life darlin’! 🙂

    Hugs,
    Linda 🙂

P.S. I became familiar with Teresa Collins just about two years ago when my eldest daughter
was looking for some inspiration for a baby shower invitation that I was to create for her to
print for her younger sister. I quickly became a fan and have just recently caught up with her.
Amazing lady to work along side of and Sweet Afternoon is awesomesauce!

I just sent you an email to congratulate you! However, I wanted to leave you a note here, too! You are a busy, busy, busy Girl! Wow! And……….. my jaw dropped, you worked with my paper scrapping (near) Idol! I have loved and own nearly everything TC has released aside from anything she’s released during the 20 months as I have been unemployed, but even then, I have been blessed to receive many of her products as gifts. Wow, I think that is SO awesome that you worked w/ her! I just looked at all of the papers (you are the GENIUS when it comes to papers!) and they’re stunning. I have always envisioned your papers sitting on the scrap shelves of all of the scrap boutiques across the Globe!

    You are amazing!
